VA Disability Compensation
The primary benefit for veterans with an Agent Orange-related condition is monthly, tax-free disability compensation. The VA assigns a disability rating between 10% and 100% based on how severely the condition affects your ability to function. Many Agent Orange presumptive conditions, including most cancers, automatically qualify for a 100% rating during active treatment. Veterans with multiple conditions receive a combined rating, which can significantly increase monthly payments.

Total Disability Based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU)
Veterans whose Agent Orange conditions prevent them from holding substantially gainful employment may qualify for TDIU, which pays at the 100% rate regardless of their combined rating. This is one of the most important and underused benefits available to veterans with serious Agent Orange-related illness.

Retroactive Pay
Veterans whose claims were previously denied and who qualify under the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act (2019) or the PACT Act (2022) may be entitled to retroactive compensation going back to the date of their original claim

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)
Surviving spouses, dependent children, and in some cases parents of veterans who died from an Agent Orange-related condition may receive DIC, a monthly tax-free payment. Eligibility does not require that the veteran was rated for the condition before death.

Surviving spouses and dependents who qualify for DIC may also be eligible for CHAMPVA, which provides comprehensive health care coverage at low or no cost.

Benefits for the Children of Vietnam Veterans
